“During the extraordinary Eucharistic Pilgrimage in the Diocese of Columbus, two of the most profound visits were to Pickaway County Correctional Institution and Mother Angeline McCrory Manor. Both represented works of mercy in bringing the closeness of the Lord in the Eucharist to those who feel distant from the Church community. The Eucharist has the power to transform our lives. At the conclusion of the second year of the Eucharistic Revival, I wrote a letter entitled ‘Returning Love for Love’ a letter to the faithful at the end of the month honoring the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus a heart burning with compassion, mercy, and love. The Eucharist is the Sacrament of God’s love. His love transforms the hearts of the faithful so that they in turn, love their neighbor through humble service. The third year of the Eucharistic Revival calls us to be missionaries of God’s love. In imitation of St. Therese who said, ‘My vocation is love. In the heart of the Church, my mother, I will be love, and then I will be all things,’ we too should be love in the heart of the Church and the heart of the world.” - Bishop Earl K. Fernandes
We are all called to evangelize, and thanks to the gift of the Holy Spirit, we are well-equipped for this mission. It may not mean spreading the Gospel in a foreign land or going door-to-door with the Good News—and it may require overcoming some fears—but the Lord is asking each of us to step out of our comfort zone and evangelize one-on-one.
Jesus in the Eucharist is the answer to every restless longing of the human heart. If we truly believe this, then that living faith will compel us to share this joy with our brothers and sisters! That’s what the third year of the Revival—the Year of Mission—is all about.
This phase seeks to foster Eucharistic devotion at the parish level, strengthening our liturgical life through faithful celebration of the Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, missions, resources, preaching, and organic movements of the Holy Spirit.
A seven week Eucharistic Revival Series entitled “Jesus and the Eucharist” is now available. These are in the format of video and small group with prayer and discussion lasting approximately two hours per session. There is a Kerygmatic Encounter focus that leads to a deeper devotion to the Eucharist. This series can be run at the parish or outside the parish in small or large group formats. Hospitality and a welcoming environment are encouraged as in the other Kerygmatic Encounter series.
Each parish is encouraged to have a parish point person to oversee these groups. The success of the small group initiative depends on having parish point persons in every parish across the country.
Note: Parishes can encourage existing small groups to take a break from what they are currently doing and run this revival series for 7 weeks. Each parish across the country is being encouraged to run the revival series sometime between fall 2023 and Pentecost 2025. The Walk Through the Mass is a written series used to explain the Mass. These weekly sessions can be sent through parish email, shared with friends, and/or used in small group discussion.
Eucharistic Preaching for Parishes
The National Eucharistic Preachers are a diverse group of priests who have been commissioned to enkindle the flame of eucharistic faith and devotion in the United States through kerygmatic eucharistic preaching.

Leading up to the National Eucharistic Congress in July 2024, there were four Eucharistic Pilgrimages across the country. The St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Route began in Connecticut on May 17, 2024 and spent a week in Columbus June 24 - 30 before they continued on to Cincinnati and arrived in Indianapolis in July for the National Eucharistic Congress. There were opportunities for Mass with Bishop Earl K. Fernandes, Processions, Eucharistic Adoration of Our Lord present in the Blessed Sacrament, and many other events as the procession came through the Diocese of Columbus.
